Pictures with the classic

Canon 50mm f/1.4 USMRecently I had the opportunity to purchase a used Canon 50mm f/1.4 USM which is still in perfect condition. I also got a matching lens hood (ES-71 II).

The special feature of this lens is the wide open aperture of 1:1.4 which allows pictures with a quite short depth of field and at low light and the auto focus mechanism using an ultrasonic motor (USM) which allows continuous manual override even then auto focus is turned on.

Another special feature is the fact that this lens was already introduced in 1993 (also see the Canon Camera Museum)  and is still being produced since then until today – which means it is now on the market for more than 20 years and can therefore considered to be a classic.
